Chateau La Canorgue 2007 Cotes du Luberon Blanc
Another wacky blend of Clairette, Roussanne,
Marsanne and Bourbelanc, but with a slightly more
restrained delivery. This wine is laced with apples,
tropical fruit and citrus, but it still has that spicy note
that makes you think you are drinking a baby
Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc…for like one quarter the
price! This wine has a special place in my heart as I
poured an earlier vintage at my wedding reception, so
I am hyper-critical when I taste each new release. I
assure you this wine gets better with each vintage and
this is my favorite yet! |

Domaine Sorin 2007 Terra Amata Cotes de Provence Rose
Our first 2007 French rose is here! The blend is 40% Grenache, 40% Cinsault, 10% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah, the result of which is a pale pink color with just a tinge of orange showing at the bottom of the glass; the color alone makes me happy. This is a very dry rose, strawberry and slightly under-ripe watermelon on the nose with more of that tart melon on the palate. You know that flavor you get that is cool, wet and a bit tangy tasting? Minerals dominate the middle palate and the wine washes down so easily it is almost embarrassing how quickly your glass is emptied. A must-have for the spring and summer that I would recommend grabbing by the case. |

A Donkey and Goat 2005 Syrah Vielles Vignes, McDowell Valley
Evoking the practice in the Rhone Valley of penning donkeys and goats together (they like each other!), this very Rhone-like wine has bright, rich fruit that is beautifully balanced and very complex. “Vielles Vignes” means old vines (in this case between 60 and 90 years old), which increases the intensity and depth of the resulting wine. You can taste the wild herbs and spice of the Rhone in this wine, and a touch of chocolate adds richness to this full-bodied wine. Very limited. |

La Cabotte 2005 Cotes du Rhone
Packed with white pepper, roasted meat and black fruit while still retaining the lovely medium weight that makes Cotes du Rhone so easily gulpable, we knew instantly that this would be the perfect Wine of the Month to kick off the fall season. It is an artisanal, estate-bottled wine and to make matters even sweeter, since it is the end of the vintage, Beaune Imports agreed to sell it to us at a price that allows us to offer it at a $2 per bottle savings the same price it sold for 10 years ago! |

Dr. Loosen 2006 Dr. L Riesling
This entry-level Loosen Riesling made from non-estate fruit, but nonetheless from top Mosel vineyard sites, embodies all of the elegant and racy characteristics of the steep, slate-soil Mosel vineyards. The wine is incredibly weighty and delicious for a Qualitatswein, owing to the fact that it is technically a Spatlese!
