CAD Toolbar

Postby Don Bryer on Fri Jul 02, 2010 8:29 am

Has anyone been able to do anything useful with the CAD toolbar? It looks like it can do all sorts of things, but I haven't been able to figure how to use it to help me with my RV trip planning, or anything like that. If anyone has been able to do anything useful, can you please post what you did here?

I haven't found too many uses for it, but was able to create a CAD file that identifies the locations of all the breweries in North America. Lots of work, but I couldn't figure out any other way to mark all those locations in the program. If anyone is interested, I don't mind sharing the file here.

That sounds like an interesting file. Can you upload it here for us?

I tried to attach it to a message here, but was told that the file was too large :-(

were you ever able to upload the file? How large is it? Does anyone know what the size limit for uploads is?

512 Kb

Isn't that kind of low by today's standards?

Here is the CAD file (attached) with the brewery locations in California. The paces are marked with one of the icons built-in TL-2010. When you zoom close in, you can also see the names. The board would not let me upload a .CAD file, so I had to rename it to ZIP, but it is NOT a zip file. Rename it to breweries_CA.CAD, after you download it and then you can load it in TL-2010

Hope you find it interesting.

I tried to download the file 5-6 times and I get a timeout error message after about 5 minutes. Do I have to do something special? I am using IE8

It could be related to the extension. Browsers may assume it's a zip file, but it is not, so it may be failing some sort of validation. We'll modify the settings to allow .CAD files to be uploaded. The OP would have to re-upload it with its original filename extension.
