How to completely uninstall

Postby xavier » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:08 am

I want to completely uninstall the program from my computer, because I'll install it on my new laptop. But, I want to completely remove all files and folders. I don't want needless use of my HD space by files remaining behind. Does anyone have step-by-step directions?

Just uninstall it from the control panel like you normally would. Control pannel > programs and features > elect the program you want to uninstall and click on the uninstall button. Then go to program files > find the trailer life folder and delete it.

Actually, if you do not know where the data files are located post what operating system you are using and the version of TLDCN you are uninstalling and we'll post the folders you need to check for. Sometimes the Uninstall will remove the data files too. But most times the uninstall process will not delete them because most companies do not like deleting customer's files and will leave it to the customer to delete them manually like what you want to do. Better yet, why don't you take these data files and transfer them into the appropriate subdirectories in the new laptop running Windows 7 so you don't lose any work that you've done so far.

It's good to hear you are sticking to the license agreement and removing TLDCN, then reinstalling on another system for continued use. This is the legal way for TLDCN. But the data is yours and since it can only be used with TLDCN, move these files over, you don't have to delete them. Anyway, that's what I recall from the license agreement.

Thanks. I just wasn't sure if I had to do something special. User files are usually much smaller than the program's data files so even if they stay behind, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

With regards to licensing, I had called undertow a year or so ago and was told that I could install it on as many as 3 systems as long as they were my systems and I was the main user of those systems.

You could be right about the 3 systems. I have so much licensed stuff from so many places on so many computers I can't keep it all straight. At the very least I wanted to make sure you realize you don't have to get rid of files that are yours and how to tell to find them.

Good luck with the install.

I had called them when using TLDCN-2009 and was told the same story. If I am the primary user of all 3 systems, I can indeed have it on all 3 at the same time. I haven't called them back for 2010, but I don;t imagine they would have changed their policy.

I think most software companies have eh same type of licensing policy, nowadays.
