TL-2011

Postby Macci3 » Sat Nov 20, 2010 8:22 pm

Has anyone heard anything about the new TL-2011 version? When is it going to be available? What new features will it have? Price Point, etc.?

How much will it cost! But more importantly, has any one heard of release and new features?

Doh, oh that?! Since you initial capped both words Price and Point, I thought it was a formal name for a product or application I did not know about?

You are asking typical Marketing questions. You might try contacting Tech Support and ask them to ask their Marketing department, but don't expect an answer or the answer you'd like. Most companies I know try and keep these things secret so they don't impact current sales of their products, allow their competitors to learn too much about their plans or reveal whether a product is on schedule or not.

Are any of you aware of the trouble Microsoft gets itself into by releasing this information and then missing the mark? Somehow I wouldn't expect public broadcasts of this information in favor of what's known as "need-to-know" especially in an end-user forum. I don't expect we will ever be on their need-to-know list. And if you were, it would be under a "non-disclosure agreement" which basically means, I'll let you know what we're doing but if you tell anyone (or post it in a forum) we'll have to remove your fingernails and do other ugly bad things.... just kidding, sorta, they'll just make you pay a lot of money for breach of non-disclosure, far more than it's worth than if nothing was revealed.

Don't expect too much, especially in a public forum. Released products are typically open for comment and while it would be nice to know, prior to that I wouldn't expect too much to be revealed ahead of time.

I don't use any of these consumer products (I only use undertow's development kit), but it seems that undertow creates new products, new versions, etc. and they don't want their customers to know about it, in all their products. I don't understand this "secrecy" ! You'd think they would want to make as much noise as they could about a new product its new features, etc., but no...

Why don't they want to tell EVERYBODY about something new they release or are about to release? It's so counter-intuitive.

Sorry for venting, I just found out that an update for their development kit that we've been waiting for years was release a while ago and we *NEVER* heard about it, only some people that get their newsletter did! We didn't even know anything about a newsletter or how one gets it. Then I saw this thread that they follow the same approach with this product and it just bothered me.

Can't comment on why they do or don't publicize their products, but the free newsletter link has been near the top right (on the their main undertow web page) for a while! I do subscribe and they have only released a couple of newsletters so far, but they are full of tips and info on how to user their products, including Trailer Life.

Just go to the main page and click "Free Newsletter Subscription" and fill out the form.
