Point in Restricted Area

Postby kimtoll » Sat Dec 11, 2010 9:36 am

I am using Trailer Life Navigator 2010 and it seemed to be working O.K., but now I cannot calculate a trip. I get an error message that a point is in a restricted area, and I don't know what to do.

When I used TLDCN 2008 and tried to put a Via Point in an area that could not be used for calculating a Trip Summary it would automatically move the point to a location that could be used.

The problem with that method is that the movement could be to a point I didn't like.

I think in your version to prevent the complaints associated with this automatic operation the program now tries to do the best it can by leaving it where you selected. This might mean it's not able to calculate the route.

Try moving your desired point to a location closest to a road or landmark and then recalculating the route. If you can tell which Via Point is causing the problem relocate it or else you'll have to remove each one, one at a time using a process of elimination to identify which one is causing a problem.

Just my guess on what's happening, but let us know if you make progress.

If the error actually say that, literally, i.e., "point is in a restricted area", then you have defined a routing exclusion area around that point. Select Plan a Trip and look next to the option "Set Routing Exclusion". Does it say "None Defined"? If not then that confirms it. So, either clear the exclusions or disable them and recalculate the trip.
