Restrictions around steep declines

Can someone give me step-by-step how to add restrictions so I avoid hi grade inclines/declines when I am planning a trip? I've seen the help file mention them, so it must be doable, but somehow I can't figure out how to do it.

First, position the map view in whatever scale you want to use with the area where you want to create the restriction. Then under the "Plan a Trip" item in the menu bar, is a selection called "Set Routing Exclusion". After clicking the option, the map screen will change and you can use the mouse pointer to create a rectangular box to surround the area you want to restrict (aka exclusion).

You might have to create a few of these in various sizes and areas to get what you want. But be careful, since you cannot delete a single exclusion if you make a mistake. You must disable and delete all of them, then recreate an individual exclusion that you want.

Well, Artmart, it's not clear what he is asking, but the way I interpreted it is that he calculated a route and had some high grades on the highlighted route that he wanted to avoid. If that's the case, the easier way to specify the restriction is to click on one of those high grades on the map, while holding the Shift key and select the option from the pop-up.

Not true, in the trip dialog, if you select trip preferences and then restrictions, you can highlight and delete the restrictions, one-at-a-time.

Thanks, FrankS. I wasn't aware of that. After I read your message, I tried it and sure enough, it's easy to add restrictions around the steep declines. And, I also found out that you can set the radius for those restrictions in the options area of the trip dialog. But, it took me a while to figure out why I was not getting the little red rectangle warnings on the route. It turned out I hadn't clicked the option t calculate and display elevations.
