Missing POIs

Postby Macci3 on Sun May 09, 2010 10:15 am

I am trying to find the POIs near Lynchburg, VA but I can make the program show them to me. I have tried all the options I could think of, but nothing. Can anyone help?

I currently use TLDCN 2008 and at the 2000ft scale I begin to see some POIs listed in green text, but that's the extent of what I can see. I also see landmarks like an airport. rivers, lakes and different types of roads and town names.

Maybe that's the best TLDCN may provide for that area.

I forgot to mention if you want the landmarks to show up, I zoom into the 200ft scale. Keep in mind, some of the landmark icons do not match the explanation. For example, a school, might show a picture that in the legend shows up as a "dike". Oh well, I think that's a bug in the software, but at least there is something.

As far as I know, POIs (the Exit Now stuff) is only available in TL 2010. It was not available in prior versions.

I haven't come up with anything like that in the TL 2010, but it would be interesting to know if the bug is still there (it probably still is). What area (Lat, Lon) did you see that at?

Thanks for the offer of helping Kevin. I could not find the same school I used in my prior post in the Lynchburg area, but I found others with the wrong symbol:

"Dearington Elem For Innovation" looks like a school but shows a "Post office" icon, not the school one. It is located at Smyth St and 1st Street. The coordinates are "-79 degrees 9 minutes 46 seconds, 37 degrees 24 minutes 33 seconds". In fact, most schools use the Post Office icon, and not the School icon. I hope TLDCN2010 is fixed.

I think the symbols used for the landmarks are not very well organized, anyway. Most of the time I can't tell what a landmark is, for its symbol, until I can read its name.
