Low Clearance POIs

Low clearance overpasses. Only a few hundred points, but something to build on. If anyone has any additional low clearance points, let's put them together to create a useful POI file. Includes a bitmap, but you can also create your own.

Any idea how accurate this data is? Some locations are on a stretch of road with seemingly no crossing over or under another road that might necessitate an over/underpass. I'm just wondering...

I din't actually collect all these points myself, so I can't validate all the data. My understanding is that although it doesn't have all low clearance points in the USA, whatever points it contains are pretty accurate.

If others have additional points, upload them and I'll combine all the data in a single POI file for all of us.

I am usually leery of all this data that is provided for free I am not saying it's not good, but there is no real incentive for whoever put it together to be "extra" careful, is there? And I believe in "you get what you pay for"

Having said that, we could collective gather that data and then may be give it so someone like undertow, or some other company, to clean it up and validate as long as they then let us use it without having to pay for it. I, for one, would be prepared to do my share collecting it.

Of course, we don;t even know if undertow, or some other company would be interested in cleaning it up, so...

I'm with you on this one. Let's see if we can get a descent set of low clearance POIs together.
