Nikolski, Alaska issue

Postby mrhagen » Wed Aug 04, 2010 8:48 pm

I seem to have discovered a problem in Nikolski, Alaska. When I zoom in to about one mile, the land mass seems to extend much further out into the water that I expected. I know that most users probably don't care about things like that, but it makes me wonder about other data in the program.

Unfortunately there are other problems, too. I can enter an address of a location/business I know of and it doesn't get positioned correctly in the map.

Some software programs are better than others, some worse than others. Even Microsoft Streets and Trips is incorrect (I check my neighborhood all the time and I've been asking for corrected updates since 2002), but if I use Microsoft's Bing maps, it's correct there. They have just not spent the time (or money) to correct it in Streets and Trips. I attribute it to Marketing and Resource priorities.

I am sure there is some disclaimer that this is only a tool and it does the best it can.
